We had to be very quiet this week in the library to avoid disturbing the diligent AP test takers. Take a look at how they reorganized the space.
We’re confident the students tried their best and were trained well, and we’re so proud of all their hard work this year. Next week will conclude AP testing in the library, and then we’ll be back to our bookish business. In the meantime, we did carve out some time for activities even while sequestered away in our office.
Throughout the week we got goodies galore from the Parents’ Association as part of staffulty appreciation week. We certainly felt spoiled this week with sumptuous smoothies, energizing espresso drinks, parfait buffets, and much more beyond! They even put up some cute stars on our door. Hollywood Walk of Fame here we come!
We had a visitor on Wednesday! Librarian Sarah Davis from the Viewpoint School in Calabasas stopped by for a tour and a chat. It was such a fun opportunity for comparing notes and collaborating with another 6-12th grade independent school librarian.
We uncovered something shocking on Thursday. In spite of the donut theme Ms. Melinson’s adivsory has taken on this year, neither Kamron nor Ashly are particularly fond of donuts. (Both still ate the donuts that Linda brought for Advisory this week.)
On Friday we celebrated the Librarian for a Day winner, 5th grader Emmett. He and Ms. Michel had a fun-filled day of checking out books to students, reading aloud to kindergartners, quiet reading with the head of the school Lee Thomsen, and more! We enjoyed a very serious business lunch with him and three of his friends in the Conference Room. We discussed such consequential topics as which roller coaster is the best to ride multiple times in a row and whether we have a secret rooftop pool somewhere on campus.
Have a wonderful sunny weekend Country Day. We’ll see you back next week!
