Leadership Lunches

The Leadership Lunches provide twofold opportunities to highlight Country Day student leadership. The lunchtime events are organized entirely by student coordinators who select speakers from among their peers to come present about leadership experiences they have had, most frequently outside of the Country Day community.

During the 2023-2024 school year, some of the topics included a student’s semester at Oxbow’s art school, as well as several student internships with organizations such as the Sacramento Alzeimer’s Association, Breakthrough Sacramento’s Substance Abuse Awareness and Policy program, and the Green School’s Action Coalition.

When Country Day went virtual due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we continued to host as many of our events as possible virtually. Below are a few of the leadership lunches we hosted and archived during this time.

Meghan talks about her summer experiences: an internship with Dr. Kimberly Biddle on empathy and attachment in early childhood; an internship focused on cellular neurobiology where she studied leeches and also used and revised a lot of code; a marine mammal class; and Girls, Inc. where she was named Girl of the Year.

February’s Leadership Lunch features Arijit talking about his experience with Independent Study and taking AP Psychology.

Allie discusses tutoring drumming and practicing techniques on her own for April’s Leadership Lunch.
