February Book Club

On Wednesday we had our monthly book club meeting, where brownies, hot apple cider, and great conversations were shared. The overall discussions led to awesome conclusions, such as:

  • Jo discovered that the two books she just read have the same color cover, which is both delightful and totally on purpose. These books were 2a.m. at The Cat’s Pajamas by Marie Helene Bertino, and The Localist by Carrie Rollwagen. While one is a novel and the other nonfiction, both are riveting and one of them will make you never want to shop on Amazon again. (Guess which one!?)
  • Anny S. really wants to read Alan Turing: The Enigma by Andrew Hodges—the book that inspired the film The Imitation Game, about the life and death of the famous British mathematician.
  • Dr. Bell really enjoyed reading I am a Cat by Natsume Soseki, and says that it’s a great read if you enjoy modern Japanese literature, such as Haruki Murakami.
  • With the news of Harper Lee releasing a sequel to To Kill a Mockingbird, much excitement was expressed. Mollie’s former writing teacher wrote a biography about her a few years ago, and just published an interesting article about her in the LA Times.
  • Everyone loves Benedict Cumberbatch.
